You have a background in mechanical engineering with experience in designing complex systems — your expertise allows you to conceptualize and develop mechanical architectures that are both innovative and practical. You are familiar with cryogenic systems and understand the challenges associated with fluid transfer in space environments. Your proficiency in tools like AutoCAD and SolidWorks enables you to create detailed designs and prototypes that meet rigorous engineering standards.
You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams — your ability to communicate effectively with system engineers and specialists in thermal, avionics, and other disciplines ensures that all aspects of the design are considered. You are detail-oriented and committed to ensuring the mechanical feasibility and robustness of your designs, which is crucial for the success of in-orbit operations.
What you'll do
As a Mechanical Engineer at The Exploration Company, you will play a key role in the conceptual and preliminary design of mechanical subsystems for cryogenic refueling systems. You will contribute to defining and designing mechanical architectures that support cryogenic fluid transfer operations in space. Your responsibilities will include developing design trade-offs, defining interfaces, and preparing for early prototyping and testing phases.
You will collaborate closely with the System Engineer and Cryogenic Systems Engineer to ensure that your designs are compatible with other engineering disciplines. Your work will directly impact the success of the Future Projects unit as you help conceptualize and pre-develop new technologies and products for the Nyx vehicle. You will be involved in Phase 0/A and Phase B1 activities, contributing to the overall mission of advancing space exploration capabilities.
