Who you are
You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in designing and implementing scalable systems. You thrive on reducing complexity and have a strong understanding of service design and automation. Your expertise in infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform and Kubernetes is well-established, and you are comfortable with CI/CD practices. You write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, adhering to engineering best practices. You enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify pain points and build effective software solutions. Your passion for learning and adapting to new technologies drives your success in this role.
Desirable
Experience with observability tools and practices is a plus, as is familiarity with cloud environments. You may also have a background in DevOps or a related field, which enhances your ability to shape the DevOps strategy for the corporate environment.
What you'll do
In this role, you will design and implement backend services and tools that streamline and automate internal operational workflows. You will partner with applications, support, and engineering teams to identify high-impact pain points and develop software solutions that minimize manual intervention. Your responsibilities will include writing clean and maintainable code, developing infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and Kubernetes, and ensuring that our platforms are secure, scalable, and highly observable. You will lead initiatives to improve automation and efficiency, contributing to the overall success of Uber's Digital Experience team. Your hands-on ownership will extend from architecture through to on-call responsibilities, ensuring that the systems you build are reliable and effective.
