Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in machine learning and a strong background in developing algorithms that enhance user interactions — your expertise lies in building scalable ML systems that can handle millions of customer queries effectively. You are proficient in Python and have a solid understanding of information retrieval techniques, which allows you to create innovative solutions for complex problems.

Your experience includes defining and implementing observability frameworks to measure response quality and relevance — you understand the importance of data-driven feedback loops and how they can improve customer experiences. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with product, ML, and content teams to translate ambiguous challenges into actionable insights.

Desirable

Experience with semantic search and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) improvements is a plus, as is familiarity with automated feedback systems that enhance content coverage strategies. You are comfortable navigating the intersection of ML systems and platform engineering, and you have a passion for improving the quality of bot responses through robust observability.

What you'll do

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Uber, you will define and implement frameworks to evaluate response quality and relevance across customer interactions. You will develop advanced retrieval and ranking algorithms to continuously improve answer relevance, ensuring that the bot provides accurate and helpful responses to users.
