Job Description
Who you are
You have a Ph.D., M.S., or Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or other quantitative fields. With a minimum of 6 years of industry experience as a Scientist or equivalent, you bring a wealth of knowledge to the table. If you hold a Ph.D., you can qualify with just 4 years of experience. You have at least 1 year of experience managing a team of Scientists, showcasing your leadership skills and ability to mentor others.
Your expertise lies in the underlying mathematical foundations of statistics, machine learning, optimization, economics, experimental design, and analytics. You are comfortable using data to understand product performance and identify improvement opportunities, which is crucial for defining product and team roadmaps. Your collaborative nature allows you to work effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring that projects are executed smoothly.
Desirable
Experience in the transportation industry or similar fields would be a plus, as would familiarity with causal inference techniques. You are adept at designing and executing product experiments and non-experimental measurement strategies, interpreting results to draw actionable conclusions. Your ability to present findings to senior leadership will inform critical business decisions, making you a key player in the organization.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead a team of Scientists, focusing on fostering their growth and mentoring them to achieve their best work. You will drive high-impact projects aimed at optimizing pricing at Uber, utilizing your skills in optimization, machine learning, and causal inference. Your work will directly contribute to the growth and profitability of Uber's Marketplace, which is at the core of the business.
You will collaborate closely with Engineering and Product leads to drive end-to-end development, ensuring that your team's insights are effectively integrated into product strategies. Your role will involve designing and executing product experiments, as well as non-experimental measurement strategies, to gather data that informs product performance and improvement opportunities.
Presenting your findings to senior leadership will be a regular part of your responsibilities, as you will need to communicate complex data insights in a clear and actionable manner. Your leadership will not only guide your team but also influence the strategic direction of the company.
