Who you are
You hold a Ph.D. in Math, Economics, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Engineering, or other quantitative fields, and you have a minimum of 7 years of experience in the industry, with at least 4 years in a people management role. You have a proven track record in building and managing high-performance science teams, including mentoring and coaching senior individual contributors and other managers. Your expertise includes experimental design, exploratory data analysis, statistical analysis, causal inference, and model development, which you have applied in real-world scenarios to drive business outcomes.
You are proficient in both a data ETL language, such as SQL, and a scripting language like Python or R for data analysis. You have a strong ability to prioritize and drive multiple work-streams forward simultaneously, empowering your team while fostering collaboration and maintaining Uber's cultural identity. You understand the importance of marketplace health and are passionate about using data to solve complex global business problems.
What you'll do
In this role, you will manage and support a team of scientists and science managers, working closely with engineering and product partners to continuously optimize key pricing and promotion systems. You will develop metrics and measurement methodologies to assess the impact of these systems on driver health and marketplace efficiency. Your insights will guide business and operations teams in understanding marketplace dynamics and earnings health, helping to solve global business challenges.
You will lead your team in conducting long-term studies and measurements to monitor the health of pricing algorithms and the driver community. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that the pricing strategies align with overall business objectives. You will also be responsible for fostering a culture of experimentation and data-driven decision-making within your team, encouraging innovative approaches to problem-solving.
