Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in security engineering, with a strong foundation in software development and a passion for application security. You are well-versed in identifying and remediating vulnerabilities, and you have a solid understanding of security principles and practices. Your expertise includes working with various programming languages such as Python, Java, and JavaScript, and you are comfortable using tools like Docker and Kubernetes for security automation.
You possess a deep understanding of common vulnerabilities such as XSS, SQLi, CSRF, and SSRF, and you are familiar with OWASP guidelines. You have experience building and operating security automation systems that continuously monitor and improve security posture. Your collaborative nature allows you to work effectively with cross-functional teams, mentoring junior engineers and sharing your knowledge to enhance the team's capabilities.
Desirable
Experience with cloud security, particularly in AWS environments, is a plus. Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards will help you excel in this role. You are proactive in researching novel attack techniques and developing innovative solutions to address security challenges.
What you'll do
In this role, you will design, build, and deploy large-scale automation systems to discover, analyze, and remediate security vulnerabilities across thousands of services at Uber. You will work on end-to-end systems for application security platforms, including secret discovery and code scanning. Your responsibilities will include identifying security-sensitive functionalities and coverage gaps, developing automation to close those gaps, and researching new attack techniques to enhance detection capabilities.
You will collaborate closely with engineers across the company, ensuring that security is integrated into the development lifecycle. Your role will involve mentoring junior team members, helping them grow their skills in security engineering. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of Uber's security posture by implementing best practices and innovative solutions.
