You are adept at collaborating across disciplines, including Product, Engineering, and Data Science, to translate high-level business goals into technically sound roadmaps. Your expertise in deep learning and reinforcement learning allows you to apply the latest advancements in AI to practical challenges. You are comfortable with ambiguity and can design sophisticated experiments that go beyond standard A/B testing.

What you'll do

As a Senior Applied Scientist at Uber, you will take ownership of foundational machine learning initiatives, focusing on optimizing feature engineering for high-scale, real-time systems. You will design and implement machine learning algorithms that unify competing business interests into a single value space, ensuring that both organic relevance and sponsored content are effectively balanced.

You will act as the science lead for various machine learning projects, unblocking technical debt and ensuring that your solutions are robust and scalable. Your role will involve navigating the complexities of user behavior and designing experiments that provide insights into user interactions with the platform. You will collaborate closely with engineers to architect the next generation of recommendation systems, balancing technical rigor with the pressures of real-world traffic and shifting business priorities.

In this role, you will also be responsible for researching and applying advancements in AI, including generative AI, to solve complex problems that arise in the marketplace. Your work will directly impact the business, and you will have the opportunity to grow your skills and influence the direction of AI initiatives at Uber.
