What you'll do

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Upstart, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining the Machine Learning & Simulations Platform. Your primary responsibility will be to build and optimize the infrastructure that supports ML model training and inference, ensuring high performance and low latency.

You will collaborate with data scientists to design and implement machine learning models that improve underwriting, fraud detection, and customer verification processes. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of Upstart's lending operations, enabling faster and more accurate decision-making.

You will also be responsible for creating simulation capabilities that allow teams to experiment safely and assess business impacts without the need for costly live experiments. This involves developing tools and frameworks that facilitate model testing and validation, ensuring that new features are rigorously evaluated before deployment.

In addition to technical responsibilities, you will mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's knowledge base by sharing best practices and insights. You will participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to help your peers grow and improve their skills.
