You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have war stories from debugging complex distributed systems issues. You possess deep expertise in Java and Python — you've shipped high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests and have strong opinions on service architecture, dependency injection, and testing strategies. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to understand user needs and prioritize impactful work. You are a cultural beacon, setting an example for effective, collaborative engineering and helping mentor junior team members. You make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and sustainable practices. You are passionate about security and compliance standards, understanding their importance in building trust with customers.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer at Vanta, you will improve the scalability and reliability of our core data systems, ensuring they are robust in the face of growth. You will help define and evolve how we model, store, and query resource data across Vanta. You will ship quickly and experiment thoughtfully to validate ideas and drive product velocity. You will collaborate with product, design, and other engineering teams to understand user needs and prioritize impactful work. You will act as a cultural beacon, setting an example for effective, collaborative engineering and helping mentor junior team members. You will make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and sustainable practices. Your contributions will directly impact the security monitoring for compliance standards like SOC 2, HIPAA, and ISO 27001, helping to create the world's leading Trust Management Platform.
