Who you are

You have a minimum of 3 years of experience managing equipment in a data center environment — you've developed a strong understanding of server hardware and network connectivity. Your experience includes rack mounting and cabling of servers and switches, ensuring that all installations meet industry standards. You are dependable and diligent, with a knack for troubleshooting hardware issues and resolving connectivity problems efficiently.

You are familiar with working alongside IT engineers and third-party vendors, such as Dell and HP, to ensure that all equipment is functioning optimally. Your technical skills are complemented by your ability to communicate effectively with team members and external partners, making you a valuable asset in collaborative environments.

What you'll do

As a Data Center Engineer at Virtu Financial, you will be responsible for the management and maintenance of equipment within our data centers in New Jersey. Your primary duties will include rack mounting servers, switches, and other hardware, as well as cabling these devices using copper, twinax, and fiber connections. You will troubleshoot server, storage, and network hardware issues, collaborating closely with other IT engineers to resolve any challenges that arise.

You will also handle shipping and receiving of equipment and parts at the data centers, ensuring that all logistics are managed efficiently. Working with data center co-location technicians, you will open Smart Hands tickets when necessary and coordinate with third-party vendor technical support to address any complex issues. Your role will be crucial in maintaining the high standards of our data center operations, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of Virtu's technology infrastructure.
