Overview

Waabi is hiring a Senior / Staff Software Engineer specializing in Observability and SRE to design and lead the architecture of monitoring systems for cloud and on-prem environments. You'll work with AWS, Linux, and various observability tools. This position requires significant experience in performance tuning and system architecture.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on observability and site reliability engineering. Your background includes designing and implementing monitoring solutions for both cloud and on-premise environments, ensuring system health and performance. You are proficient in using advanced profiling tools such as eBPF and have a solid understanding of Linux systems. Your experience with AWS and various observability platforms like OpenTelemetry and Grafana makes you a strong candidate for this role.

You are skilled in performance tuning across various platforms, including databases and machine learning systems. Your familiarity with chaos engineering and stress testing allows you to validate hardware and platform choices effectively. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to enhance system reliability and performance.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design and lead the architecture and development of Waabi’s monitoring and observability stack. This includes integrating stress, chaos, and regression tests to validate hardware and platform choices. You will analyze and optimize end-to-end performance across hardware, firmware, and distributed services using advanced profiling tools. Your responsibilities will also involve developing workloads and benchmarks for compute, storage, and network systems, ensuring that our observability capabilities meet the demands of our growing infrastructure.

You will collaborate closely with other engineers to implement best practices in monitoring and observability, ensuring that our systems are robust and reliable. Your expertise will guide the team in deploying and managing observability platforms, enhancing our ability to monitor system performance effectively. You will also be involved in mentoring junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and experience to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
