Overview

Waabi is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the development of safety methodologies for their self-driving technology. You'll work with data science and machine learning techniques to ensure the safety of autonomous systems. This position requires experience in safety engineering and a passion for self-driving technologies.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in systems engineering with a focus on safety methodologies — your experience includes developing and implementing safety frameworks that ensure the reliability of autonomous systems. You are passionate about self-driving technologies and have a knack for solving complex problems, which drives your innovative approach to engineering. Your collaborative spirit allows you to work effectively across functional boundaries, partnering with autonomy and algorithms teams to create robust safety solutions.

You possess advanced skills in data science and machine learning, which you have applied in previous roles to enhance safety assessments and validation processes. Your expertise in statistical analysis and data mining enables you to derive meaningful insights from complex datasets, contributing to the overall safety and effectiveness of autonomous systems. You are also familiar with the challenges of launching driverless products and understand the critical importance of safety in this rapidly evolving field.

Desirable

Experience in launching a driverless product is a plus, as is familiarity with implementing software systems components. You are comfortable working with cutting-edge technologies and are eager to leverage generative AI techniques to improve safety methodologies.

What you'll do

In this role, you will spearhead the development and implementation of critical safety framework methods that underpin Waabi's driverless autonomy readiness decisions. You will scale and manage safety framework methods by defining requirements for automated assessment workflows, ensuring that safety is prioritized in all engineering processes. Your work will involve partnering with the autonomy and algorithms teams to implement and debug the evaluation infrastructure, ensuring that all systems meet rigorous safety standards.

You will play a pivotal role in creating the evidence for safe operation, utilizing Waabi's highly realistic simulator and real-world data to validate safety measures. Your contributions will directly impact the commercialization of self-driving technology, as you lead efforts to ensure that Waabi's autonomous trucking solutions are safe and reliable. You will also be responsible for monitoring and refining safety methodologies, adapting to new challenges and advancements in the field.
