Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience and at least 4 years of experience in full-stack development. Your backend expertise includes languages such as Java, Python, Go, or C++, while your front-end skills encompass JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS. You possess a solid understanding of front-end web technologies and have experience building data visualization applications with an eye for design. You are familiar with engineering artifacts, reliability monitoring, security and privacy practices, and documentation processes. You communicate effectively with other software teams and stakeholders, ensuring updates and resolutions are clearly conveyed.
Desirable
Experience with integration testing, production hygiene, and support processes is preferred. You have a keen interest in user experience and design, which helps you create user-facing products that are both functional and visually appealing.
What you'll do
In this hybrid role at Waymo, you will report to an Engineering Manager and play a crucial part in building and evolving mission-critical commercialization tools and systems. You will collaborate closely with Product, UX, and other engineering teams across various sites to develop user-facing products for both external and internal use. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing features that enhance the Waymo Driver experience, ensuring that the tools you create are reliable and user-friendly. You will also engage in code reviews, contribute to architectural discussions, and help maintain high standards of software quality through testing and documentation.
You will be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from initial concept through deployment and maintenance. This includes gathering requirements, designing solutions, coding, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. You will work in a collaborative environment, sharing knowledge and best practices with your peers to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
