Waymo is seeking a Mid-Level Infra SWE Query & Storage to design and develop SQL-based query APIs and systems. You'll work with C++ and SQL to enhance the performance and scalability of the query execution engine. This role requires 3+ years of backend software engineering experience.

Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and bring over 3 years of professional backend software engineering experience. Your solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles allows you to tackle complex challenges effectively. You are proficient in C++ and SQL, and you adhere to best practices in software engineering, ensuring that your code is well-structured, testable, and maintainable. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with data scientists, product managers, and engineers to understand data needs and define requirements.
Desirable
Experience with autonomous systems or related technologies would be a plus, as well as familiarity with performance optimization techniques and scalability challenges in backend systems. You are eager to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies, contributing to the continuous improvement of the systems you work on.
What you'll do
In this role, you will design, develop, test, and deploy new features for SQL-based query APIs and systems that analyze and generate metrics for Waymo Driver evaluations. You will analyze and improve the performance and scalability of the query execution engine, ensuring it meets the demands of high-volume data processing. Monitoring system health and performance will be a key responsibility, allowing you to proactively address issues before they impact users. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and ensure that the solutions you develop meet the analysis needs of various stakeholders across Waymo.
What we offer
Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $170,000 to $216,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
