Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in software engineering with a focus on privacy and data protection — your experience includes designing systems that comply with regulations like GDPR and implementing data handling frameworks that prioritize user privacy. You are proficient in programming languages such as Python and Java, and you understand the intricacies of building data pipelines and anonymization processes. Your ability to bridge the gap between legal requirements and technical implementation makes you a valuable asset in any team.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with legal, product, and AI/ML teams to integrate privacy considerations into the development process from the outset. You are detail-oriented and have a passion for creating systems that not only meet compliance standards but also enhance user trust and safety. You are comfortable navigating complex regulatory landscapes and are committed to ensuring that privacy by design is a core principle in your work.
What you'll do
In this role, you will architect and build data handling systems that satisfy strict GDPR requirements, including automation for the 'Right to be Forgotten' and consent management frameworks for European riders. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that privacy considerations are integrated into sensor data ingestion and mapping technologies. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing robust data pipelines that support the operational needs of Waymo's autonomous vehicles while adhering to regulatory standards.
You will also be responsible for conducting regular audits and assessments of privacy systems to ensure ongoing compliance and effectiveness. Your role will involve staying up-to-date with evolving privacy regulations and best practices, allowing you to proactively address potential compliance issues before they arise. You will contribute to the development of documentation and training materials to educate team members on privacy practices and policies.
What we offer
Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $170,000—$216,000 USD, along with participation in a discretionary annual bonus program and an equity incentive plan. You will have access to generous company benefits, subject to eligibility requirements. Join us in our mission to improve access to mobility and save lives through innovative technology.
