You have a strong background in data science with a focus on machine learning and computer vision — your experience includes developing and fine-tuning models that handle multimodal data such as text and images. You are skilled in designing data preparation processes that ensure high-quality data pipelines, and you understand the importance of data cleaning and augmentation in model training.

You are familiar with transfer learning and have utilized pre-trained models to accelerate model development — your ability to optimize performance on specific datasets is a key strength. You have experience working with cloud resources, particularly Amazon Web Services, to scale training processes efficiently. Collaboration is second nature to you, and you enjoy working with data engineering and MLOps teams to deploy models into production and monitor their performance.

What you'll do

In this role, you will develop, fine-tune, and evaluate Visual Language Models to enhance document understanding. Your focus will be on multimodal data, which includes text, images, and technical drawings. You will design and implement data preparation, cleaning, and augmentation processes tailored to the needs of multimodal model training. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that the data pipelines are of the highest quality, which is essential for the success of the models.

You will leverage transfer learning and pre-trained models to accelerate the development process, optimizing performance on Xometry’s specific data. Your role will also involve using cloud resources, particularly AWS, to scale the training and fine-tuning processes efficiently. You will collaborate closely with data engineering and MLOps teams to deploy the models into production, ensuring that they perform optimally in real-world scenarios. Additionally, you will interpret model outputs and work on improving model accuracy, contributing to the overall success of the Generative AI team.
