Zuora is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to architect and deliver secure, reliable, and scalable payment solutions. You'll work with Java, REST APIs, and Spring to enhance the payment frameworks. This position requires significant experience in software engineering and system design.

Who you are
You have 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on designing and implementing scalable systems. Your expertise in Java and REST APIs allows you to create robust solutions that meet complex business needs. You understand the intricacies of payment systems and have a proven track record of delivering high-quality software on time.
You possess a deep understanding of system architecture and design principles, enabling you to make informed decisions that balance performance, security, and compliance. Your experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, equips you to leverage modern technologies for building efficient solutions. You are a strong communicator, capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive projects forward.
What you'll do
In this role, you will architect and deliver payment solutions that support core transaction lifecycles from end to end. You will design and evolve payment frameworks, APIs, and flows, including checkout forms and hosted payment pages, to accelerate product development and improve global adoption. Your responsibilities will include guiding system design trade-offs, ensuring that simplicity, performance, security, compliance, and cost are balanced throughout the payment journey.
You will collaborate closely with product managers and other engineers to define requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Your role will also involve mentoring junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and best practices to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team. You will be instrumental in driving the technical direction of the payment solutions, ensuring they align with the company's strategic goals.
