Who you are

You are a mission-driven corporate commercial lawyer with at least 2 years of experience in transactional law and managing legal projects across various stakeholders. You possess fluency in English and have exposure to early-stage venture capital investing, demonstrating a commitment to tackling poverty or social causes. Your skills include being creative, kind, pragmatic, and respectful, allowing you to excel in a fast-paced environment. You are self-reflective and aligned with Acumen's values, and you are permanently authorized to work in Kenya with a license to practice law.

Desirable

Experience with non-profit and/or investment regulations and compliance is a plus, as it will enhance your ability to navigate the legal landscape effectively. You understand the importance of empathy and humor in your interactions, which helps in building strong relationships with stakeholders.

What you'll do

As a Program Legal Associate, you will provide legal support to Acumen East Africa, particularly in connection with a new five-year program aimed at impacting approximately 400 early-stage social enterprises in the African green economy. You will manage legal projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and providing guidance on legal matters related to investment and corporate governance. Your role will involve collaborating with various stakeholders, including entrepreneurs and investors, to facilitate the growth of impactful businesses in the region.
