You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building scalable systems that handle high transaction volumes. Your expertise in Java allows you to contribute effectively to complex technical projects, ensuring that best engineering practices are followed throughout the development lifecycle.

You are hands-on and enjoy diving into the implementation details, bringing your own perspective on how to improve existing systems. Your experience includes working with fault-tolerant architectures and observability practices, which are crucial for the Banking Network team at Adyen.

You thrive in collaborative environments and are motivated by the challenge of solving unique technical problems. You understand the importance of optimizing systems for scale and are eager to contribute to the evolution of direct connections to the Federal Reserve, enhancing the banking experience for merchants.

Desirable

Experience with payment systems or financial technology is a plus, as is familiarity with ACH, wire, and real-time payment protocols. You are comfortable working in a hybrid workplace and value in-person collaboration with your team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will work on complex technical projects from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing, and launch into production. You will be responsible for identifying and improving parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable, ensuring that your code is used at scale.

You will collaborate closely with other engineers and stakeholders to drive the evolution of the Banking Network infrastructure. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and reliability of payment processing at Adyen, making it easier for businesses to achieve their ambitions.

You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and best practices to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team. Your role will involve regular communication with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.

This position is based out of our Chicago office, and while we have a hybrid workplace, we do not offer remote-only roles. We support visa transfers but will not sponsor individuals for H-1B CAP applications.
