Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in data engineering with a focus on machine learning platforms — your experience includes designing and building scalable data architectures that support analytics and AI modeling. You are well-versed in modern lakehouse architecture and have a deep understanding of MLOps lifecycle processes, ensuring that machine learning models are operationalized effectively.
Your expertise extends to applied machine learning enablement, where you have successfully implemented risk scoring and forecasting models, particularly in the context of Medicaid analytics. You are familiar with natural language processing and generative AI techniques, enabling you to support health communications through advanced data solutions.
You prioritize responsible and trusted AI engineering practices — you understand the importance of model cards, fairness, and compliance in the development of AI systems. Your work ensures that data and AI infrastructure is secure, scalable, and explainable, which is critical for public health initiatives.
Desirable
Experience with causal ML operationalization is a plus, as you will be involved in evaluation modeling workflows that require a nuanced understanding of causal inference in healthcare settings. Familiarity with health data interoperability standards will also enhance your contributions to the team.
What you'll do
In this cornerstone role, you will lead the design and implementation of modern data and ML platform capabilities that power analytics and AI modeling across all Altarum divisions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect impactful systems that enable data science at scale, ensuring that public health and Medicaid programs operate with secure and trustworthy AI.
You will be responsible for building and operationalizing data pipelines that support machine learning workflows, ensuring that data is accessible and usable for analytics and modeling purposes. Your role will involve mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the team.
You will also engage in stakeholder communication to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements, ensuring that the solutions you develop align with organizational goals. Your contributions will directly impact the effectiveness of public health initiatives, making a meaningful difference in the community.
What we offer
Altarum provides a collaborative work environment where your expertise in data engineering and machine learning will be valued. You will have the opportunity to work on projects that have a significant impact on public health, contributing to the development of secure and explainable AI systems. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
Join us in building the future of data and AI infrastructure for public health — your work will help ensure that Medicaid programs operate effectively and efficiently, ultimately improving health outcomes for communities across the United States.
