You have 3+ years of experience building machine learning models for business applications β you've tackled complex problems and developed innovative solutions that drive efficiency and effectiveness in supply chain systems. Your educational background includes a PhD or a Master's degree along with 6+ years of applied research experience, equipping you with the analytical skills necessary to excel in this role.
You are proficient in programming languages such as Java, C++, and Python β your coding skills allow you to implement algorithms and models effectively. You have hands-on experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning, enabling you to contribute to the development of advanced inventory placement systems at Amazon.
Your deep analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities allow you to navigate challenges that lack textbook solutions β you thrive in environments where you can innovate and apply your knowledge to real-world scenarios. You enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams, including other scientists, software engineers, and product managers, to understand challenges and develop scientific models that address them.
You are passionate about shaping the future of inventory placement systems β your work will have a significant impact on how Amazon serves its customers, ensuring they receive the right products at the right time. What you'll do
As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing next-generation models for supply chain systems within the Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) group. You will work closely with other scientists and engineers to map current challenges in inventory systems to scientific models, innovating solutions that utilize techniques in operations research, machine learning, statistics, and optimization.
You will analyze complex data sets to derive insights and inform decision-making processes β your work will directly influence how inventory is placed globally, impacting Amazon's long-term free cash flow. You will be involved in the entire lifecycle of model development, from conceptualization to deployment, ensuring that solutions are scalable and effective.
Collaboration is key in this role; you will partner with product managers and business teams to align your scientific models with business objectives. Your contributions will be visible to business leaders in SCOT, providing you with the opportunity to showcase your work and its impact on customer satisfaction.
You will also engage in continuous learning and development, staying updated on the latest advancements in machine learning and optimization techniques. Your role will require you to think critically and creatively, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in supply chain optimization.
