Who you are
You have extensive experience in data center operations, particularly in managing electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems — your attention to detail ensures that all equipment operates at peak efficiency. You are a strong communicator, capable of interacting with engineering teams and third-party vendors to maintain first-class customer service within the data center environment.
Your background includes a solid understanding of preventative maintenance practices and emergency response protocols — you thrive in high-stakes situations where quick thinking and technical expertise are essential. You are committed to ensuring that the data center's MEP systems operate at 100% availability, contributing to the overall success of AWS.
What you'll do
As the Data Center Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing all facility operations within the data center — this includes managing planned preventative maintenance and daily corrective work to ensure all systems are functioning optimally. You will serve as the technical expert for onsite Engineering Operations Technicians, guiding them in their daily tasks and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
You will collaborate closely with various teams to support AWS's infrastructure services, which encompass the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure — your role is crucial in keeping the cloud running smoothly. You will also be involved in troubleshooting and resolving any operational issues that arise, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
