Overview

Amazon is hiring a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to support the operations of critical infrastructure systems in Northern Virginia. You'll monitor and maintain data center equipment, ensuring reliability and availability. This role requires technical skills in electrical and mechanical systems.

Job Description

Who you are

You are an entry-level technician with a keen interest in data center operations and infrastructure systems. You have a foundational understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles, and you are eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment. You possess strong technical writing skills, enabling you to document processes and support change management effectively. You thrive in team settings, collaborating with front-line responders to ensure the highest standards of reliability and safety in data center operations.

You are comfortable working with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS), and you have a proactive approach to troubleshooting facility and rack-level events. Your attention to detail ensures that you monitor daily work requests and manage them to resolution, contributing to the overall efficiency of the data center.

What you'll do

As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, you will conduct daily building rounds to monitor and record information from critical equipment, ensuring 24/7 reliability and availability. You will assist in troubleshooting issues within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA) and perform rack installations and decommissioning as needed. Your responsibilities will include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment, ensuring that all systems operate smoothly.

You will engage in technical writing to support the change management program, documenting processes and procedures to enhance operational efficiency. Your role will require you to collaborate closely with other technicians and engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices to continuously improve data center operations. You will be part of a team that tests and implements the latest technology and work practices, adapting to the evolving demands of the market.
