Job Description
Who you are
You have multi-year experience working on networking and consumer devices using embedded Linux, Yocto, and Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) — your expertise in these areas allows you to lead platform-specific projects effectively. You are familiar with kernel programming and device drivers, demonstrating your ability to work closely with peripheral devices and understand their intricacies.
Your experience includes working with various interfaces such as ethernet, PCIe, SPI, and I2C — you understand the importance of these technologies in ensuring reliable connectivity. You have a solid background in ARM-based systems and FPGA components, which enhances your capability to contribute to complex embedded projects.
You are knowledgeable about manufacturing diagnostics related to a device's journey from contract manufacturer through various production phases like Hardware Validation Testing (HVT), Engineering Validation Testing (EVT), Device Validation Testing (DVT), and Production Validation Testing (PVT) — this understanding is crucial for ensuring product quality and reliability.
You are a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, meeting the export control requirements for this position. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to contribute to innovative projects that aim to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to underserved areas.
Desirable
Experience with additional embedded systems or networking technologies would be a plus, as would familiarity with satellite communication systems. You are always looking to expand your skill set and stay updated with the latest advancements in embedded engineering.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead platform-specific projects and initiatives on Amazon Leo's satellite and ground systems — your leadership will be pivotal in driving the development of reliable internet connectivity solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement embedded systems that meet the high standards required for satellite communications.
You will be responsible for kernel programming and developing device drivers, ensuring that all components work seamlessly together — your expertise will help troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the development process. You will also work closely with peripheral devices, optimizing their performance and integration into the overall system.
Your role will involve working with various interfaces such as ethernet, PCIe, SPI, and I2C — you will ensure that these components function correctly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of the project. You will also engage in the manufacturing diagnostics process, overseeing the transition of devices from contract manufacturers through various validation phases.
You will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and share your knowledge of embedded systems and networking technologies — fostering a culture of learning and collaboration within the team will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will also participate in design reviews and contribute to the technical direction of the projects you are involved in.
What we offer
Amazon offers a competitive compensation package, including equity, sign-on payments, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits. You will be part of a mission-driven team focused on delivering innovative solutions that connect people and organizations in areas lacking reliable internet access. Join us in making a significant impact on global connectivity and technology advancement.
