Job Description
Who you are
You are an aspiring Engineering Operations Technician eager to join Amazon's AWS Infrastructure Services team. You have a strong interest in electrical and mechanical systems, and you are ready to learn about troubleshooting and operating critical equipment such as diesel generators, UPSs, and building automation systems. You are committed to safety and security standards and are willing to obtain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency Clearance. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are excited to work alongside a diverse team of engineers and specialists.
You may have some experience or education in electrical or mechanical engineering, but you are ready to grow your skills in a hands-on role. You understand the importance of operational excellence and are motivated to contribute to the continuous improvement of AWS data centers. You are adaptable and prepared for the challenges of a 24/7 operational environment, including the possibility of rotating shifts.
Desirable
While not required, any prior experience with data center operations or familiarity with AWS services would be beneficial. You are also encouraged to bring any relevant certifications or training that demonstrate your commitment to the field.
What you'll do
As an Engineering Operations Technician, you will be on the front lines of AWS data center operations, responding to equipment issues and ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally. You will perform hands-on troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment, including generators, switchboards, and cooling systems. Your role will involve monitoring equipment performance and responding to alarms, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed.
You will collaborate with a team of engineers and specialists to maintain the highest standards of safety and security in the data center. This includes participating in regular training and development opportunities to enhance your technical skills and knowledge of AWS infrastructure. You will also assist in the planning and execution of maintenance activities, contributing to the overall efficiency of operations.

You will be expected to document your work and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
