Who you are

You are an entry-level Engineering Technician with a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical systems. You have hands-on experience troubleshooting equipment such as diesel generators, UPSs, and HVAC systems, and you understand the importance of safety procedures in a data center environment. You are comfortable working in a 24/7 operational setting, including rotating shifts, and you are eager to learn and grow in your role. Your attention to detail ensures that you take accurate operational readings and maintain equipment effectively.

You possess a basic understanding of building automation systems and are familiar with the maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment. You are proactive in identifying potential issues and are committed to performing root cause analysis of equipment failures. Your ability to work collaboratively with Data Center Operations technicians and contractors makes you a valuable team member.

What you'll do

As a Cleared Engineering Operations Technician at Amazon, you will operate and maintain critical mechanical and electrical equipment within the data center. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting facility and rack-level events, performing limited maintenance tasks such as filter changes and rack power installations, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures. You will take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment, utilizing internal systems to manage workflows and spare part inventory.

You will also supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance and respond to off-hour emergency calls as part of an on-call rotation. Your role will require you to drive innovation while reducing operational costs, contributing to the overall efficiency of the facilities. You will be expected to adhere to internal SLAs and maintain a high standard of operational excellence.
