Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in environmental engineering, particularly in large-scale infrastructure projects. Your expertise includes environmental permitting, compliance, and remediation, with a strong understanding of multi-media environmental regulations in the United States. You excel in communication and collaboration, effectively engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and consultants. You have a proven track record of managing multiple high-priority projects with tight timelines, demonstrating your ability to deliver results under pressure. You are detail-oriented and possess strong analytical skills, allowing you to navigate complex environmental challenges and develop effective strategies. You are passionate about sustainability and committed to ensuring that AWS operations align with environmental best practices.
Desirable
Experience with AWS infrastructure projects or similar large-scale technology deployments is a plus. Familiarity with innovative environmental technologies and practices will enhance your contributions to the team. A background in project management or leadership roles will be beneficial as you guide cross-functional teams through the environmental compliance process.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead the environmental due diligence process for site selection and acquisition, ensuring that all necessary environmental permits are obtained in a timely manner. You will develop and execute regional and site-specific environmental permitting strategies, collaborating with AWS stakeholders to align on project goals and compliance requirements. Your responsibilities will include managing environmental compliance during the design and construction phases of AWS datacenters, ensuring that all activities adhere to regulatory standards. You will prepare for data center operations by establishing protocols for ongoing environmental monitoring and compliance. Regular engagement with various AWS teams, including Real Estate, Legal, Risk, and Construction, will be essential as you navigate the development lifecycle. You will also represent AWS in discussions with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and contractors, advocating for best practices in environmental compliance.
