Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in product design engineering, particularly in mechanical part and assembly design. Your experience includes working with cross-disciplinary teams to bring innovative consumer products to market. You are skilled in using design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, and you understand the intricacies of material selection and design attributes. You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

Desirable

Experience with electromechanical systems and high-volume manufacturing processes is a plus. Familiarity with satellite technology or broadband initiatives would be beneficial, as would a passion for improving global connectivity.

What you'll do

In this role, you will engage with a team to conceive and design products that support Amazon LEO's mission of increasing global broadband access. You will be responsible for the mechanical design of parts and assemblies, ensuring that your designs are optimized for performance and cost-effectiveness. You will conduct testing and evaluation of prototypes, identifying key design attributes and making recommendations for improvements. Your work will involve close collaboration with manufacturing partners to scale designs for high-volume production, ensuring that timelines and budgets are met.

You will also be tasked with communicating design rationale and trade-offs to leadership, highlighting any issues that arise during the design process. Your ability to work efficiently and effectively will be crucial in converging on electromechanical designs that meet the program's objectives. You will play a key role in the product development lifecycle, from initial concept through to final production.
