Who you are
You have a strong background in public policy and government affairs, ideally with experience in state-level advocacy. Your ability to build relationships with key stakeholders is essential, as you will be educating government officials on Amazon's policy goals. You are strategic and can anticipate public policy matters that may impact the business. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with policy and business teams to align priorities and objectives. Your communication skills are top-notch, allowing you to effectively convey complex policy issues to diverse audiences.
Desirable
Experience in the technology sector or with large corporations is a plus, as is familiarity with California's political landscape. You may have a network of contacts within government or advocacy organizations that can be leveraged to advance Amazon's interests. A background in law or a related field could also be beneficial, providing you with a deeper understanding of regulatory frameworks.
What you'll do
In this role, you will develop and execute Amazon's public policy strategy at the state level in California. This includes creating and implementing advocacy plans that align with the company's business objectives. You will coordinate with trade associations, consultants, and policy organizations to ensure a unified approach to advocacy efforts. Your responsibilities will also involve assessing potential government activities and communicating these insights back to the business. You will oversee external advocacy efforts and outreach programs, driving key initiatives that support Amazon's policy goals. Collaboration with the Head of California Public Policy and other team members will be crucial as you represent Amazon's interests to policymakers.
