Overview
Amazon is hiring a Senior RF Engineer to join the Antenna Team for the Amazon Leo initiative, focusing on developing RF designs for satellite communication. You'll work with WiFi, GNSS, and Bluetooth subsystems in Redmond.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in Radio Frequency (RF) engineering, with experience in developing requirements and optimizing designs for communication systems. Your expertise includes working with WiFi, GNSS, and Bluetooth technologies, and you are proficient in performing link budget analysis and selecting appropriate RF ICs and passive components. You are skilled in reviewing and optimizing PCB schematics and layouts, ensuring that designs meet stringent performance criteria.
You possess a deep understanding of RF performance validation and troubleshooting, capable of addressing issues from the sub-component to the system level. Your collaborative nature allows you to work effectively with verification and validation engineers to create comprehensive test plans that validate designs and tackle system integration challenges. You are also experienced in using specialized test equipment to assess RF performance, ensuring that all components function optimally.
Your leadership skills enable you to guide other engineers and technicians during test campaigns, fostering a collaborative environment where team members can thrive. You are adept at working cross-functionally with other engineering teams to meet challenging form factor and industrial design requirements, while also preventing unintentional radiators from negatively impacting RF receiver sensitivity.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be instrumental in the Amazon Leo initiative, which aims to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites. You will develop and refine RF designs that provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities. Your responsibilities will include performing link budget analysis, selecting RF ICs, and optimizing PCB layouts to ensure high-quality RF performance.
You will validate RF performance using specialized test equipment, troubleshooting issues as they arise and ensuring that all components meet the required specifications. Collaborating closely with verification and validation engineers, you will create detailed test plans that thoroughly validate designs and address any integration challenges that may occur.
As a Senior RF Engineer, you will also work with manufacturing test and operations teams to review RF test fixture designs and setups, ensuring that device RF performance can be tested efficiently at the factory. Your influence will extend to decision-makers, as you will provide insights on processes, procedures, and necessary tests required to achieve optimized RF designs.
What we offer
At Amazon, you will be part of a groundbreaking initiative that aims to change the landscape of broadband connectivity. We offer a competitive compensation package, including equity and sign-on payments, along with a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will have a direct impact on the success of the Amazon Leo project.
