Amazon is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer for the Center for Quantum Computing to lead the technical direction of the software team. You'll work with AWS, Java, and Python to design and implement high-quality software solutions. This position requires strong engineering principles and problem-solving skills.

Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in software development, with a strong foundation in engineering principles and a proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions. You possess excellent problem-solving skills and a genuine curiosity to understand complex scientific problems, which allows you to collaborate effectively with research scientists and engineers.
Your expertise includes proficiency in programming languages such as Java and Python, and you are familiar with cloud technologies, particularly AWS. You have experience in system architecture design and are comfortable mentoring and developing other engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment.
You are resourceful and have a bias for action, which enables you to identify bottlenecks and propose effective solutions. Your communication skills are exceptional, allowing you to translate technical concepts into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
Experience with quantum computing technologies or related fields is a plus, as is familiarity with agile development methodologies. You are open to learning and adapting to new technologies and practices that can enhance the team's productivity and product quality.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead the technical direction of the software team at the AWS Center for Quantum Computing. You will be responsible for designing software systems that support the hardware operations flywheel, ensuring that the solutions you develop are logical, maintainable, and scalable.
You will work closely with other Software Development Engineers, Research Scientists, and a Technical Program Manager to understand their challenges and propose workable solutions. Your responsibilities will include translating user stories into software design documents, ensuring that you balance complexity with timely delivery.
You will take ownership of the software stack's stability and quality, identifying and implementing features that accelerate the realization of quantum computing technologies. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers, helping them grow their skills and contribute effectively to the team.

Amazon provides a competitive salary range of $168,100.00 - $227,400.00 USD annually, along with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) matching program, and generous paid time off.
