Amazon is hiring a Software Development Engineer for the Simulation Foundations team to design and implement distributed systems for global broadband access. You'll work with AWS technologies and Docker, requiring experience in object-oriented programming and continuous integration.

Who you are

You have a solid background in software engineering with experience in designing and implementing distributed systems. Your expertise in AWS technologies allows you to build scalable solutions that can operate in realistic virtual environments. You are familiar with Docker and understand how to leverage it for efficient software deployment and testing. Your knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts enables you to write clean, maintainable code that adheres to best practices. You have experience with systems integration and testing methodologies, ensuring that the systems you build are robust and reliable. You are passionate about mentoring junior engineers and evangelizing engineering excellence within your team.

Desirable

Experience with cloud-based services and APIs is a plus, as is familiarity with continuous integration and deployment practices. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions. What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing globally available distributed systems that support Amazon Leo's mission to provide broadband access. You will build systems using the latest AWS technologies, ensuring they are scalable and efficient. Your work will involve creating and managing cloud-based services and APIs that facilitate the operation of virtual environments. You will also develop tools that enable test execution across various environments, including virtualized hardware and real hardware-in-the-loop simulations. As part of your responsibilities, you will invent new tools to enhance software deployment and data analysis processes, contributing to a continuous integration and release system.

You will collaborate closely with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure that the systems you build meet the needs of unserved and underserved communities. Your role will also involve mentoring junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and best practices to foster a culture of engineering excellence. You will be expected to stay updated with industry trends and technologies, continuously seeking ways to improve the systems and processes you work with.
