Amazon is hiring a Software Development Engineer for the Security Tool Foundations team to build secure workflows and backend engines. You'll work with Java and AWS to develop security applications that protect customers. This role requires strong technical and communication skills.

Who you are
You are a curious and motivated engineer with a strong background in software development, particularly in building secure applications. You have experience working with Java and AWS, and you understand the importance of security in software development. You thrive in ambiguous situations and can make decisions with imperfect knowledge, fostering constructive dialogue and seeking resolution when faced with disagreement. You also have a passion for mentoring junior engineers, guiding them in their professional growth while ensuring that security remains a top priority.
Desirable
Experience with security tools and practices is a plus, as is familiarity with Amazon's Leadership Principles, which emphasize customer obsession, trust, and deep dives into technical challenges. You are comfortable presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences, demonstrating exceptional judgment and integrity in your work.
What you'll do
In this role, you will design and build first-party security applications that support Amazon's Security teams. You will provide software development expertise to ensure that security is integrated into the workflows of Amazon product teams. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with Amazon Security Engineers and Product Teams to create tools that help build secure code. You will represent your team to business leaders and technical staff at all levels, preparing and presenting detailed technical information as needed. You will also be expected to mentor junior engineers, helping them develop their skills and understanding of security practices.
