Who you are
You have 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on security β you've designed and implemented security architectures that protect systems from vulnerabilities and threats. Your strong networking background allows you to understand the intricacies of service-to-service communication and the importance of secure protocols.
You are passionate about security and automation β you believe in embedding security practices into the development lifecycle and have experience with tools that facilitate this. Your collaborative nature helps you work effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure security is a shared responsibility.
You have a solid understanding of distributed systems β you've worked on projects that require scalability and resilience, and you know how to architect solutions that maintain security without compromising performance. Your experience with web application firewalls and proxies like Envoy equips you to tackle complex security challenges.
You are proactive in identifying potential security risks β you have a track record of responding to incidents and implementing measures to prevent future occurrences. Your analytical mindset allows you to assess security postures and recommend improvements.
Desirable
Experience with cloud security practices is a plus β you understand the unique challenges of securing cloud-based applications and services. Familiarity with compliance standards and frameworks can help you navigate regulatory requirements effectively.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead initiatives to enhance network security at Lyft β you'll work on projects involving internet edge proxies and service-to-service authentication, ensuring that our systems are secure by default. Your contributions will directly impact how our services communicate securely, shaping the future of our infrastructure.
You will collaborate with other infrastructure teams to evangelize security best practices β your role will involve educating peers about the shared responsibility model and how to integrate security into their workflows. You will help create a culture where security is prioritized across all engineering efforts.
You will architect and build services that improve the security of our systems β your focus will be on scalability and minimizing friction for developers while maintaining robust security measures. You will leverage your expertise to design solutions that are both effective and user-friendly.
You will participate in incident response efforts β when security incidents occur, you will be part of the team that investigates and resolves issues, learning from each experience to strengthen our defenses. Your insights will help shape our incident response strategies moving forward.
