Job Description
Who you are
You are an experienced systems engineer with a strong background in cloud operations, ideally with 3+ years of experience in a similar role. You have a solid understanding of AWS services and are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where you can adapt and improve operations management systems. Your expertise in Linux and automation tools allows you to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
You possess excellent problem-solving skills and can define and refine hardware requirements effectively. Your experience includes developing application and system management tools that reduce manual efforts. You are proactive in monitoring system health and automating maintenance tasks, ensuring that operations run smoothly.
You are a team player who enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver the best results for customers. Your ability to participate in on-call rotations demonstrates your commitment to resolving incidents and maintaining system reliability. You are also an Australian Citizen and hold or can attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be part of the Region Services team, responsible for redefining how AWS designs, builds, and operates its regions. You will define and refine hardware requirements and participate in the development of operability-related features such as system health monitoring and diagnostics. Your role will involve developing and enhancing application and system management tools to increase overall efficiency and reduce manual efforts.
You will adapt and improve operations management systems to accommodate rapid growth in systems and traffic. Your responsibilities will include monitoring the health of the fleet, automating system health tasks, and reporting systems as needed. You will also participate in the design and execution of production acceptance tests and new hardware evaluations, ensuring that all systems meet operational standards.
As part of your duties, you will engage in on-call rotations to resolve incidents occurring out-of-hours, demonstrating your commitment to maintaining system reliability. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of AWS services, providing high-caliber operational solutions and support.
