Overview
Apple is seeking an AR/VR Software Development Engineer for the Vision Pro project to design and implement animation systems for immersive experiences. You'll work with technologies like ARKit and Unity to create responsive characters in mixed reality environments.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in software development with a focus on AR/VR technologies — your experience includes designing and implementing real-time animation systems that enhance user interactions in immersive environments. You possess deep expertise in character animation, including skeletal animation pipelines and inverse kinematics solvers, which allows you to create lifelike movements and interactions for digital beings.
Your technical skills include proficiency in C++ and C#, as well as familiarity with Unity and OpenGL — you understand the intricacies of developing for spatial computing platforms and are adept at solving performance constraints while maintaining physical plausibility in animations. You are passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology and enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring innovative ideas to life.
You thrive in a creative environment where diverse perspectives are valued — your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders enables you to contribute to a collaborative team culture. You are committed to continuous learning and are excited about the potential of AR/VR to change how we interact with digital content.
Desirable
Experience with WebXR and other AR/VR frameworks is a plus — you are eager to explore new technologies and methodologies that can enhance the user experience in mixed reality applications. A background in game development or interactive media can also be beneficial as you work on projects that require a blend of creativity and technical expertise.
What you'll do
In this role, you will join the RealityKit framework team at Apple, where you will be responsible for designing and implementing animation runtime systems that bring characters to life in the Vision Pro environment. You will work on developing blend trees and procedural motion techniques that allow for dynamic character interactions, ensuring that they respond realistically to user inputs and environmental changes.
You will collaborate closely with other engineers and designers to define the technical requirements for character animation systems — your insights will help shape the tools and frameworks that developers use to create expressive characters. You will also engage in performance optimization, ensuring that animations run smoothly and efficiently on the Vision Pro hardware.
Your work will directly impact how users experience mixed reality, as you will be tasked with solving unique technical challenges that arise from blending digital content with the physical world. You will participate in code reviews and contribute to the overall architecture of the animation systems, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet Apple's standards for innovation and excellence.
What we offer
At Apple, you will be part of a team that values creativity and collaboration — you will have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking technology that has the potential to change lives. We offer a supportive work environment where your ideas are encouraged and your contributions are recognized. You will have access to resources and tools that enable you to grow your skills and advance your career in the AR/VR field.
We believe in fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace — as a registered Disability Confident employer, we are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to all applicants. Join us at Apple and be part of a mission to create innovative products that enhance the way people interact with technology.
