Who you are
You have a strong background in software engineering with experience in managing teams — you've successfully led engineering projects and understand the intricacies of personal communication applications. Your technical expertise spans across iOS, macOS, watchOS, and visionOS, allowing you to effectively guide your team in developing robust messaging infrastructure.
You possess excellent collaboration skills — you thrive in cross-functional environments, working closely with design teams and other engineering managers to define new features and coordinate engineering plans. Your passion for privacy and user experience drives you to create secure and delightful communication tools.
What you'll do
As the Engineering Manager for the Messages Infrastructure team, you will lead a group of engineers focused on the on-device architecture that stores, vends, and syncs Messages data. Your responsibilities include overseeing system daemon ownership, database schema definition, and attachment storage and transcoding. You will also ensure the seamless integration of Messages in iCloud sync.
You will collaborate with peer managers on protocols, security, platform API, and user experience, ensuring that the messaging app remains one of the most used in the world. Your role will involve prioritizing and triaging bugs, as well as delivering on the product roadmap and features that enhance user communication.
