You hold a high bar for quality and engineering excellence, ensuring that your team delivers high-performance and reliable solutions. You are comfortable diving deep into technical and operational details, challenging assumptions constructively, and bringing structure to ambiguity. Your experience includes guiding teams in the operation of large-scale systems, particularly with Apache Solr, and you are passionate about contributing to open-source projects.
Desirable
Experience with search technologies and a strong understanding of distributed systems will set you apart. Familiarity with collaboration tools and methodologies, as well as a background in software engineering, will enhance your effectiveness in this role.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead a team responsible for delivering a scalable and reliable Solr platform that meets Appleβs rapidly evolving product needs. You will define the technical direction for the team, upholding engineering rigor and ensuring operational excellence across the Solr ecosystem. Your responsibilities will include hiring, mentoring, and growing engineers who work on both internal platform capabilities and upstream open-source efforts. You will collaborate closely with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Engineering Program Management (EPM), and product teams to align platform strategy and support customer-facing initiatives. You will also be involved in driving the evolution of Appleβs search infrastructure, ensuring that it meets the demands of hundreds of millions of users.
