Who you are
You have over 5 years of direct engineering management experience, successfully hiring, mentoring, and retaining high-performing engineers. You have a proven track record of managing teams that ship production-grade software, ensuring quality and reliability in your projects. With 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, you possess deep proficiency in the Python ecosystem, including frameworks like FastAPI and libraries such as Pandas. You thrive in the ambiguity of new initiatives, demonstrating a passion for building scalable infrastructure that meets the needs of complex workflows.
You are adept at architecting developer experiences, designing APIs, SDKs, and platform services that simplify complex evaluation metrics into intuitive, self-service calls. Your collaborative nature allows you to work closely with researchers, operationalizing sophisticated measurement techniques to ensure they scale reliably within high-availability infrastructures. You are committed to defining engineering standards for your organization, establishing rigorous code quality, automation, and testing practices that support the rapid evolution of Generative AI and Agentic systems.
Desirable
Experience with cloud services and infrastructure management is a plus, as is familiarity with AI evaluation systems. You are comfortable navigating the challenges of new technologies and are eager to lead teams through the complexities of AI development.
What you'll do
In this role, you will build and lead the engineering team responsible for democratizing AI evaluation across Apple Services Engineering. Your focus will be on architecting high-availability services and internal tools that enable self-service evaluation at scale. You will partner with researchers to transform their innovations into practical applications, ensuring that complex workflows are streamlined and accessible to developers.
You will define the engineering standards for a new organization, establishing the code quality, automation, and testing rigor required to support the rapid evolution of AI technologies. Your leadership will guide the team in creating a robust infrastructure that can handle the demands of high-availability services, ensuring reliability and performance.
You will also be responsible for mentoring your team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. By encouraging open communication and knowledge sharing, you will help your engineers grow in their roles and contribute to the success of the organization.
