Overview
Apple is seeking a SoC Physical Design Engineer to handle the physical implementation of design partitions for complex SOCs. You'll collaborate with the logic design team and drive optimization for best Power/Performance/Area. This role is ideal for recent graduates in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
Job Description
Who you are
You are a recent graduate with a BS in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering, eager to start your career in hardware engineering. You have a foundational understanding of physical design processes and are excited to learn about the implementation of design partitions from netlist to tapeout. Your communication skills allow you to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and you are motivated to contribute to innovative projects at Apple.
Desirable
An MS in a related field is preferred, and any experience with partition level P&R implementation will be advantageous. You are keen to develop your skills in timing, physical, and electrical verification, and you are open to resolving design and flow issues as they arise.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be responsible for the physical implementation of design partitions for a highly complex SOC. You will work closely with the logic design team to understand the architecture and drive physical aspects early in the design cycle. Your tasks will include completing netlist to GDS2 implementation for the partitions while meeting schedule and design goals. You will also be involved in timing, physical, and electrical verification, ensuring that signoff closure for the partitions is achieved. As you gain experience, you will drive optimization of PnR partitions to achieve the best Power/Performance/Area metrics.
