Overview
Apple is hiring a Senior SoC Physical Design Engineer to lead the physical implementation of complex SOC designs. You'll work with C++, Python, and Linux to optimize design partitions. This position requires 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience in physical design engineering, particularly in the context of System on Chip (SoC) development. Your expertise includes partition level P&R implementation, where you've successfully managed the transition from netlist to GDS2, ensuring that design goals are met efficiently. You possess strong communication skills, enabling you to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including logic design engineers, to drive physical aspects early in the design cycle.
Your technical proficiency includes a deep understanding of timing closure, floorplanning, and power distribution. You are adept at performing physical and electrical verification, and you have a proven track record of driving signoff closure for complex design partitions. You are also skilled in identifying and resolving design and flow issues, demonstrating your ability to optimize PnR partitions for the best Power/Performance/Area metrics.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be directly responsible for the physical implementation of design partitions for highly complex SOCs. You will collaborate closely with the logic design team to understand the architecture of the partitions and drive the physical aspects early in the design cycle. Your responsibilities will include completing the netlist to GDS2 implementation for the partitions while meeting schedule and design goals. You will also conduct timing, physical, and electrical verification, ensuring that all aspects of the design meet the required specifications.
You will be tasked with resolving and improving design and flow issues related to physical design, identifying potential solutions, and driving execution to enhance overall design efficiency. Your role will require you to optimize PnR partitions to achieve the best Power/Performance/Area outcomes, contributing to the development of groundbreaking Apple products.
What we offer
At Apple, you will be part of a team that values innovation and creativity. We offer a collaborative work environment where your ideas can flourish and contribute to the development of extraordinary products. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and be part of a company that is committed to leaving the world better than we found it.
