Overview

Apple is hiring a Senior Hardware Engineer to design and manufacture high-performance, power-efficient GPUs. You'll work on ASIC integration and physical design, ensuring seamless functionality in Apple products. This role requires deep expertise in chip design and integration.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, and possess deep experience with all aspects of ASIC integration including Floorplanning, Clock & Power distribution, global signal planning, I/O planning, and hard IP integration. You are familiar with hierarchical design approaches and have a strong understanding of multiple voltage and clock domains, ESD strategies, and mixed signal block integration. Your expertise extends to integrating IP from both internal and external vendors, allowing you to specify and drive IP requirements effectively in the physical domain.

You have hands-on experience with large subsystem designs, specifically those exceeding 20 million gates and operating at frequencies greater than 1GHz. You understand various process-related design issues and are adept at managing complex chip integration tasks. Your strategic engineering mindset complements your technical skills, enabling you to tackle sophisticated challenges in GPU design.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for implementing complete chip design from netlist to tapeout, ensuring that the GPU meets Apple's high standards for performance and efficiency. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to craft and build the technology that powers Apple’s devices, enabling customers to enjoy seamless experiences. Your role will involve hands-on technical work, as well as strategic planning to address complex design challenges.

You will lead efforts in physical design and large chip integration, ensuring that all components work harmoniously together. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the integration of various IP blocks, managing timing and physical convergence, and addressing any design issues that arise during the development process. You will also mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
