Who you are

You have a BS degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in hardware engineering, particularly in analog mixed-signal design. Your deep understanding of high-speed SERDES receivers, transmitters, and clocking blocks sets you apart. You are proficient in adaptation and optimization algorithms, and you have a solid grasp of communications and information theory. Your experience with equalizers, timing recovery, and system identification is extensive, and you are familiar with mixed-signal modeling in Python, MATLAB, or C/C++. You also have a background in firmware or embedded software development, which enhances your ability to collaborate across teams.

Desirable

While not required, familiarity with machine learning concepts would be a plus, as would experience in system design and performance trade-offs. Your ability to lead debug efforts during system bring-up and factory testing is crucial for success in this role.

What you'll do

As a SERDES Micro Architect at Apple, you will drive the definition of next-generation IPs that will be integral to Apple silicon, enhancing power and performance for devices like the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. You will define the micro architecture of analog mixed-signal IPs with a strong emphasis on SERDES design. Your role will involve reviewing firmware code and both analog and digital circuits to ensure that designs meet performance requirements. You will collaborate closely with silicon evaluation and design verification teams to define expected behaviors and lead the debug efforts during system bring-up and factory tests. Working with signal integrity engineers, you will determine system requirements that align with Apple's high standards for quality and performance.
