Apple is hiring a SoC Physical Design Engineer to lead the physical implementation of complex SOC designs. You'll collaborate with various teams and utilize skills in Perl, TCL, and SPICE. This role is based in San Jose, California.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in physical design with experience in the implementation of complex SOCs — you've worked on projects from netlist to tapeout and understand the intricacies of chip architecture. Your knowledge of back-end chip design flow, including physical synthesis and place and route (PnR), sets you apart in this field. You are familiar with timing analysis and physical design verification, ensuring that designs meet stringent electrical and performance standards. Your proficiency in tools such as Redhawk, Totem, and Voltus demonstrates your capability in managing power grid and timing verification tasks. You are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams, including architecture, CAD, and logic design, to drive physical aspects early in the design cycle.
Desirable
Experience with advanced process technologies and a passion for innovation in hardware design would be beneficial. Familiarity with industry-standard design tools and methodologies will enhance your contributions to the team.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be responsible for the physical implementation of design partitions, ensuring that they meet schedule and design goals. You will collaborate closely with the logic design team to understand partition architecture and drive physical aspects early in the design cycle. Your responsibilities will include completing netlist to GDS2 implementations for your assigned partitions, ensuring that all designs are optimized for performance and power. You will conduct timing, physical, and electrical verification, driving the signoff process to ensure that all designs meet the required specifications. Your role will also involve working with various verification tools to validate designs against DRC and LVS standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
