Apple is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for their Optical Sensing Product Design team to develop and validate mechanical designs for optical sensing systems. You'll work collaboratively with a diverse team and apply your hands-on mechanical design experience, particularly with 3D CAD tools like NX.
Job Description
Who you are
You have hands-on mechanical design experience, with a strong background in 3D CAD, preferably using NX. You understand the importance of engineering analysis and documentation, and you are skilled at identifying design tradeoffs and risks to ensure a great customer experience. You apply good experiment design and the scientific method to reduce design risk early in the development process. Your experience includes running tolerance studies to ensure designs are feasible over manufacturing tolerances, and you are committed to meeting high cosmetic standards in your work. You are also comfortable supporting external manufacturing vendors with process development and root cause analysis for issues found during testing, and you are open to international travel between 15% and 25%.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead the end-to-end design, development, and validation of spectral sensing technology for Appleβs product portfolio. You will collaborate with a talented multifunctional team to generate and validate design concepts, ensuring that your mechanical designs meet the high standards expected by Apple. Your responsibilities will include crafting clear engineering documentation and driving processes that align with Apple's cosmetic standards. You will play a key role in specifying, developing, characterizing, and validating the mechanical design of optical sensing systems, ultimately contributing to products that enhance user experiences.
