Overview

Apple is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Optical Sensing Product Design team to develop and validate mechanical designs for optical sensing systems. You'll work collaboratively with a diverse team and require hands-on mechanical design experience and proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably NX.

Job Description

Who you are

You have hands-on mechanical design experience and are skilled in 3D CAD, with a preference for NX. You understand the importance of engineering analysis and documentation in the design process, and you are adept at identifying design tradeoffs and risks to ensure a great customer experience. You apply good experiment design and the scientific method to reduce design risk early in the development process. Your experience includes running tolerance studies to ensure designs are feasible over manufacturing tolerances, and you are committed to meeting high cosmetic standards in your work. You are also comfortable supporting external manufacturing vendors with process development and root cause analysis for issues found during testing, including potential international travel.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the end-to-end design, development, and validation of spectral sensing technology for Apple’s product portfolio. You will collaborate with a talented multifunctional team to generate and validate design concepts, ensuring that your mechanical designs meet the high standards expected by Apple. Your responsibilities will include crafting clear engineering documentation and driving processes that align with Apple's cosmetic standards. You will play a key role in specifying, developing, characterizing, and validating the mechanical design of optical sensing systems, ultimately impacting millions of users. You will engage in engineering analysis and documentation for your projects, identifying viable paths forward that enhance user experience. Your work will involve applying scientific methods to mitigate design risks early and ensuring that your designs are manufacturable and meet all necessary tolerances. You will also be responsible for supporting external vendors in process development and troubleshooting during testing phases.

What we offer

Apple offers a collaborative and innovative work environment where you can make a significant impact on technology that changes how people interact with their devices. You will be part of a diverse team of skilled engineers, contributing to projects that enhance user experiences across Apple’s product line. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Join us in shaping the future of technology and making a difference in the lives of millions.
