Who you are
You have a solid background in Site Reliability Engineering, with experience in building and maintaining large-scale distributed systems. You understand the importance of reliability and performance in critical infrastructure, and you have a knack for problem-solving and optimizing systems. Your technical expertise includes working with cloud platforms like AWS, and you are proficient in containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes. You are comfortable with scripting and automation, particularly using Python, and you have experience implementing monitoring solutions with tools like Prometheus. You thrive in collaborative environments, partnering with product and engineering teams to translate requirements into resilient infrastructure designs.
You have a proactive approach to incident management and are familiar with on-call rotations, ensuring service health and leading technical incident responses when necessary. Your experience includes mentoring junior engineers and contributing to design and code reviews, helping to shape the technical direction of your team. You are committed to applying SRE best practices to enhance the availability and performance of services, and you are always looking for ways to improve operational excellence.
Desirable
Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform is a plus, as is familiarity with CI/CD pipelines. You may also have experience with observability frameworks and performance tuning across distributed systems. A background in working with large-scale applications, particularly in a high-impact environment, will set you apart.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be a key contributor to the reliability and scalability of the backend services that power Apple Maps experiences worldwide. You will take ownership of crafting and optimizing critical systems, ensuring that our stack remains modern, resilient, and performant. Your responsibilities will include building automation to manage large-scale service deployments and implementing observability frameworks to proactively detect and diagnose issues. You will drive performance improvements across distributed systems, ensuring that Apple Maps operates smoothly for millions of users.
You will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate requirements into resilient infrastructure designs, bringing those systems to life using modern SRE practices. Your role will involve participating in on-call rotations and leading technical incident responses when needed, ensuring that service health is maintained at all times. As a technical leader, you will mentor junior engineers, contribute to design and code reviews, and help shape how Apple Maps Application Services scales into the future.
