Who you are

You have over 10 years of experience supporting internet-facing production systems and distributed cloud infrastructure — you've navigated complex environments and understand the nuances of maintaining high availability and performance. As a technical lead for at least 3 years, you've guided teams through intricate design decisions, setting high benchmarks for reliability and scalability.

Your programming skills are strong in at least one of Python, Go, or Java — you've built robust applications and understand the importance of clean, maintainable code. You possess proven expertise with AWS-managed infrastructure, ensuring that services are optimized for performance and cost.

Hands-on experience with Linux systems is a must, and you have a deep knowledge of its internals — you've configured and optimized systems to run efficiently under load. Your familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, and Crossplane allows you to automate deployments and manage infrastructure effectively.

You thrive in cross-functional environments, collaborating with various teams to enhance service resilience and eliminate manual processes — your communication skills enable you to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You are passionate about improving processes and enabling teams to move faster with confidence.

Desirable

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring tools would be a plus, as would familiarity with container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes. A background in advertising technology or similar domains could provide valuable context for your work.

What you'll do

As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer at Apple Ads, you will own the health, performance, and scalability of our ad-serving infrastructure — your role will involve leading initiatives that enhance service resilience and streamline operations. You will work closely with engineering teams to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions that reduce manual processes.
