You have 5+ years of software engineering experience, particularly in building and maintaining complex systems. Your background includes a strong understanding of machine learning principles and how to integrate them into production environments. You are proficient in Python and have experience with REST APIs, enabling seamless interactions between different components of a system. Your familiarity with Docker allows you to create consistent development and production environments, ensuring reliability and efficiency in deployment.

You possess excellent problem-solving skills and are comfortable mentoring junior engineers, helping them grow their technical abilities and confidence. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with product teams to design ergonomic APIs that solve real customer problems. Your ability to fix bugs and resolve customer issues with urgency demonstrates your commitment to delivering high-quality software.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Core Product team, you will own and lead various projects that enhance the Baseten platform. You will design and implement new features that allow users to deploy machine learning models effortlessly. Your responsibilities will include developing model APIs for frontier models and creating asynchronous inference capabilities that improve the overall user experience. You will also be tasked with driving long-term improvements to the reliability of systems and the velocity of development, ensuring that the platform remains robust and scalable.

You will collaborate with a forward-thinking team, contributing to the development of CLI tools and the web application that forms the backbone of the Baseten product. Your role will involve mentoring junior engineers, guiding them through the complexities of software development and helping them to tackle challenging problems. You will be at the forefront of product development, working on initiatives that push the boundaries of what is possible in AI deployment.
