Benchling is seeking a Total Rewards Manager, Compensation Lead to design and operate global compensation programs. You'll collaborate with various teams to ensure competitive compensation strategies. This role requires expertise in compensation frameworks and market analysis.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in compensation management, ideally with 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing compensation frameworks. You understand job architecture, leveling, and pay bands across various functions, and you are adept at conducting market analysis and benchmarking to inform competitive positioning. Your analytical skills allow you to make data-driven recommendations on pay structure adjustments, ensuring consistency and fairness in compensation practices.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with People Partners, Recruiting, and Finance to develop and execute compensation strategies that align with the company's goals. You are detail-oriented and execution-focused, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Your communication skills enable you to effectively partner with hiring managers and leadership to strategize on offers and compensation for new roles.
Desirable
Experience in the biotechnology or tech industry is a plus, as is familiarity with global compensation practices. You are comfortable using survey data and other resources to benchmark compensation and understand the nuances of different markets. You are proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and are passionate about creating equitable compensation programs that attract and retain top talent.
What you'll do
In this role, you will take ownership of Benchling's global compensation framework, ensuring it is designed to meet the needs of a growing and diverse workforce. You will lead merit, promotion, and off-cycle compensation planning cycles, collaborating with Finance and leadership to manage budgets effectively. Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough market analyses to inform compensation strategies and making recommendations for adjustments based on competitive positioning.
You will partner with Recruiting and hiring managers to develop offer strategies that are competitive and aligned with market trends. This will involve analyzing compensation data and providing insights that help shape the company's approach to attracting new talent. You will also be responsible for maintaining pay equity across the organization, ensuring that all employees are compensated fairly based on their roles and contributions.
As a key member of the People Operations team, you will contribute to building a culture of transparency and trust around compensation practices. You will work closely with various stakeholders to communicate compensation policies and ensure that employees understand how their compensation is determined. Your role will also involve staying updated on industry trends and best practices in compensation management, allowing you to continuously improve Benchling's compensation programs.
